Support our Troops

 We Support Our Troops

The other day I was sitting and watching the news (I know too much negativity there) about our troops over in Afghanistan and I got to wondering about those men and women trying to protect us, our society and way of life. I sat there and wondered what have we done as a society or as individuals to say thanks? How many of us have actually gone up to a soldier, sailor, or airman and said “thank you for doing what you do” or even contribute to causes that support our troops for housing-recovery-treatment?

For instance for my American readers there is a wonderful organization similar to Habitat for Humanity that builds homes for wounded military personnel called Homes For Our troops their link is here http://www.homesforourtroops.org . One day hopefully some organization like this could be created for our own Canadian wounded. At the end of this blog, I’ll provide a link for those who would like to contribute or to volunteer to help.

I sat and thought about it and knew that many of those young military families have it rough financially. Now I know I can’t help them out with more money, but I thought, “Hey, I can help them save money and ensure every home they purchase won’t be such a drain on their financial resources and their health. So I decided to offer a 25% discount off any type of inspection that I provide to present and past members of the Canadian Armed Forces. (You’ll have to go to the bottom link to see complete details)

But as I thought about it a bit more, our troops are not the only ones that put their lives on the line on a daily basis to serve us. Our police officers, fire men, and paramedics do so as well, so I decided that I would also include them in this offer.

As a former service man I am proud of the fact that I am able to offer this discount and service to our troops who put it all on the line for us.

I am hoping those that read this blog find their own little way of saying thanks to those selfless people that serve us day in and day out. My eternal thanks and prayers to those that serve, stay safe.

Thanks

Gerry P.
